Catherine Clinton est professeur Denman d'histoire américaine à l' Université du Texas à San Antonio . Elle se spécialise dans l'histoire américaine , en mettant l'accent sur l'histoire du Sud , la guerre civile américaine, les femmes américaines et l'histoire afro-américaine.
Carrière
Clinton a grandi à Kansas City, Missouri , où elle a obtenu son diplôme de la Sunset Hill School en 1969. Par la suite, elle a étudié la sociologie et l'histoire afro-américaine à l'Université Harvard ( Lowell House ), obtenant son diplôme en 1973. Clinton a obtenu son doctorat à Princeton. Université en 1980, après avoir terminé sa thèse sous la direction de James M. McPherson .
Elle a occupé des postes universitaires dans de nombreux établissements d'enseignement supérieur, notamment Union College , Harvard University, Brandeis University , Brown University , Wofford College, The University of Richmond , Wesleyan University , Baruch College of the City University of New York et The Citadel . Elle est actuellement titulaire d'une chaire d'histoire américaine à l' UTSA .
Elle a écrit pour History Channel , consulté sur des projets pour WGBH , et est membre de la Screen Writers Guild , et a écrit, édité, co-écrit ou co-édité plus de vingt-cinq livres à ce jour. Elle est éditrice d'une série VIEWPOINTS ON AMERICAN CULTURE (Oxford University Press).
Elle siège au conseil consultatif scientifique du Ford's Theatre et du Lincoln Cottage, ainsi que des revues suivantes : Civil War Times et CIVIL WAR HISTORY.
Elle a été conseillère sur plusieurs documentaires, dont BROTHER, OUTSIDER (la vie de Bayard Rustin) et REBEL ! (la vie de Loreta Velasquez), ainsi que Lincoln de Steven Spielberg (2011).
Vie privée
Clinton vit actuellement à San Antonio, TX. Elle a deux fils, Drew Colbert (né en 1984 à Boston, MA) et Ned Colbert (né en 1989 à Boston, MA). Drew occupe actuellement le poste de spécialiste principal des affaires du Congrès à l' Agence fédérale de financement du logement . Ned occupe le poste de coordonnateur de la communication au NAESP. Les deux fils sont situés à Washington, DC.
