Chintamani Ghosh (1844 - 11 août 1928) était un éditeur et imprimeur indien. Il a fondé The Indian Press , à Allahabad et a lancé Saraswati , le premier magazine hindi en 1900. Il était considéré comme le Caxton du monde hindi.
La vie
Chintamani Ghosh est né à Howrah , dans le Bengale occidental, en 1844. Il a fait ses études à Varanasi , où son père a été muté en raison de son travail. Chintamani Ghosh a commencé sa carrière en tant qu'employé du gouvernement. En 1884, il fonde The Indian Press , à Allahabad. Des magazines notables tels que Prabasi et The Modern Review étaient imprimés ici. Il fut l'un des premiers promoteurs et éditeurs des œuvres littéraires de Rabindranath Tagore .
Ghosh est décédé le 11 août 1928.
Héritage
Chintamani Ghosh a été noté comme Caxton du monde hindi. En 2013, le président indien de l'époque, Pranab Mukherjee, a dévoilé une statue de Ghosh à Allahabad.
