Reference issue[edit]

Possible chlorine(0)[edit]

In Zhang et al. [Zhang, W., Oganov, A., Zhu, Q. et al. Stability of numerous novel potassium chlorides at high pressure. Sci Rep 6, 26265 (2016). https://doi.org/10.1038/srep26265], a potassium chloride with formula KCl3 is synthesized under high pressure. Bader charge analysis shows that the trichloride ion has near zero charge in the middle atom and more substantial negative charges on the end atoms, roughly agreeing with a three-center four-electron bond model where the end atoms have oxidation state -1/2 and the middle atom 0. Plutonium(VIII)[edit]

Existence of this oxidation state seems to have been disproven, see [1]. Burzuchius (talk) 18:40, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The documentaion also has a [reference](https://doi.org/10.1515/ract-2014-2146) to Pu(VIII) existing in organic solvents, so Pu(VIII) does not appear to be entirely disputed. Olthe3rd1 (talk) 19:21, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Burzuchius, it is not appropriate to revert changes that are made to bring a page into conformance with WP:ACCESS for the reason of "it looks better". If you would like an explanation, I am happy to provide one. cc @Gonnym Izno (talk) 20:34, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Izno: Although I am much less educated on this subject, I think this table should be an exception. The colors of the oxidation states should be specified in the headings, or it may cause minor confusion. Also, the wideness produced by the sorting of the chart makes it hard to read and see. Ref. 55 is missing from the table[edit]

finally got it done.

I don't understand the case of Mn(-2) oxidation state[edit]

the transition metal elements from group 4 to group 9 (titanium group to cobalt group) should be able to display the negative oxidation states which have the same parity as their group number (e.g, ruthenium is in group 8 an even number-so are its negative oxidation states -2 and -4). most of them also show the -1 oxidation state regardless of the parity of the group number (as in the case of 41-Nb and 42-Mo). but in the row of manganese, i saw the presence of "oxidation state -2" in color, without any references (by the above argument, i have assumed that this state is not possible for manganese, or it's possible that i was missing something important). i had tried to find a reliable source for this doubtful entry on internet, but... So after all, is the presence of this entry -2 oxidation state a mistake (if not, please help me find a suitable source for it) 2402:800:63AD:9E45:28E7:623B:2A82:77AD (talk) 15:25, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
